a brief history
egomotion was set up in June 2006 as an online community for anyone interested in any aspect of film-making, from actors to writers, sound engineers to producers, camera operators to directors, make up artists to artists, novices to experts.
mission statement
egomotion is a Cork based film-makers community that provides members with internet discussion groups and meeting points, personal networking opportunities, film making opportunities and an ever-growing database of local industry resources.
egomotion is dedicated to:
1. Networking regional talent, to allow them more job opportunities, and a chance to learn from one another toward the improvement of their craft
2. Assisting film-makers in their endeavours to create movies in the southwest, by putting enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated people in contact with each other and listing resources available at their disposal
3. Developing a rich film-making tradition in the southwest
4. Promoting national awareness of film making in the Cork region, thereby increasing film-making opportunities in the region
5. Involving the broadest possible section of the community in the production and promotion of film in the Cork region
6. Creating a portfolio of films that deal with diverse social, political, historical and cultural issues of particular interest to the southwest region
forum features
The following features are available for motion|forum members:
Discussion forum
Where anyone from newcomers to experts can share their knowledge and ideas on film-making
Writers area
A private area for writers were they can upload their script and have it critiqued by fellow writers
Actors area
A database for actors where they can upload their CV’s and headshots so that directors can freely browse through to find a character they would like to contact.
Screening room
An online cinema! People can upload their films to the website and showcase their finished works or showreels, they can also recommend and link to films they have seen elsewhere online which can be a handy learning tool.
Egopics
Featuring hundreds of photos, from productions stills to meet & greets, recommended locations to studio tours, all members can submit any relevant photo's.
Private messaging
Every member of the motion|forum has a private inbox and outbox facility where they can send private messages to one another. Handy facility for those that don’t want to announce their projects to the world just yet!
Training room
Recommended tutorials from other members, or courses held in the area, handy tips and tricks for low budget film-making and lots more to come.
